What’s stopping you from getting in touch?

About Home v2 e1681473003934

One thing people often say when we start working together, is that they’ve wanted to make contact for ages. When I ask why they’ve put it off for so long, they’ll often describe certain myths that they’ve told themselves. In this blog I hope to try and dispel some of them.

‘I’m too embarrassed’

This always surprises me because I’ve seen it all…and I really mean it. I’ve emptied garages and lofts, bubble wrapped an elephants tusk, disposed of fossilised mice, worked in extreme hoarding situations, seen a post-mortem (I used to be a nurse in another lifetime) and so much more. There’ll be no embarrassment or awkwardness from me. The ethos of my business is to provide nothing short of judgement-free support, and I’m delighted that my clients often reflect this in reviews. I’m keen to help and won’t even notice the mess – I’ll be totally focused on how we can make the changes needed to make your life easier.

‘I should be able to do this myself’

There are no ‘shoulds’ in this. This word is at best, unhelpful and at worst stops us from doing things that move us forward. There are lots of reasons why you might want to get help. Maybe you don’t want to do it by yourself, or don’t have the time, or good enough health, or just find it too difficult. You might not know where to start or have small kids or feel short of energy for a variety of reasons. Or maybe you have other things you would rather do, like hobbies and interests and life! The point is that I can do it. And I can do it quickly and efficiently, using a method that will get it done in half the time and with much less stress. Plus, I can do it with you or for you, whichever you prefer.

‘It feels like too much of a luxury’

Is it any more a luxury than hiring a gardener, cleaner, decorator, dog walker or bookkeeper? Many people outsource these tasks and think nothing of it. Why should getting help with organising be any different? I truly believe that working with a Professional Organiser is a necessity for many people. It helps them get organised and stay organised, which has benefits that extend out to absolutely everything else. Don’t let the myth of ‘luxury’ stop you from leading your best life.

‘I’d prefer to meet you first’

This works well for me too. Which is why I offer a free online or phone consultation for every new client. You can check that I’m a good fit for you, ask any burning questions and talk about what you hope to achieve. I can put your mind at ease and hopefully, you’ll come away feeling confident that working with me will be great experience.

‘I don’t want anyone else to know’

If you want to keep it to yourself that’s absolutely fine. My services are completely confidential and I can be as subtle as you wish. I don’t have branding on my clothes for this reason, so you can feel confident that my service is discreet. The irony is that many clients start out thinking this way, but further down the line are so pleased with the results they end up telling everyone!

‘It’s too expensive’

What we choose to spend our money on often comes down to perceived value, in other words, what we see as the benefit and how important this is to us. Clients often say that paying for help with organising is one of the best investments in themselves they’ve ever made, because the impact has been huge. One of my clients went on to write a book, another started a new business. Neither would have been possible without getting decluttered and organised first. So a good question to ask yourself is ‘What will it cost me to do nothing?’ Will there be a cost in terms of time, mental health and ability to live my best life?

There is also another way. The option of working virtually with me through my low cost Simply Declutter Programme is the next best thing to having me come to your home. You get regular advice and support from me to reach your organising goals, for a fraction of the price of in home support.

I hope I’ve managed to dispel some common myths!
