WHY DO I NEED A PROFESSIONAL ORGANISER?

You can declutter by yourself of course, or maybe enlist the help of family or friends. But if you work with me, decluttering will be quicker, easier, and more efficient. I have over 15 years decluttering experience. I have tried and trusted methods that work!

Decluttering with friends and family can be problematic. Clients tell me they have felt rushed, pressurised into getting rid of things before they are ready, or even worse, judged for the condition of their home or the number of items they own. When you work with me you can be assured that you will not feel rushed, judged, or pressurised. In addition, my service is professional and fully confidential.

MY HOME IS A MESS AND I AM EMBARRASSED TO LET YOU SEE IT

Please, please do not worry about this. The condition of your home is not front of mind for me at all. The perfect home does not exist, despite the Instagram worthy images! When I visit you, my only concerns are that you feel comfortable and supported. I will be thinking about how I can help you and the best place to begin. By taking the first step to contact me, you have done the hardest bit. We will work together to achieve your aims and I promise that you will not feel judged and will never be made to feel ashamed.

DO I NEED TO CLEAN AND TIDY FIRST?

No, please don’t…there is no need – I have seen it all before! It can also be useful for me to see how the space/room is used and the areas where the clutter tends to accumulate. We will tackle this as necessary as we go along and of course we will wipe down surfaces and shelves as we declutter.

DO I HAVE TO BE THERE?

Usually yes. The decisions about what to keep and what to let go are yours to make, with my support. However, when I work with you there may be times where I can get on with some sorting/decluttering while you have a break or get on with something else. This works very well when I have a clear brief about what is needed. So I can work flexibly to fit around you and the job in hand!

WILL YOU FORCE ME TO THROW THINGS AWAY?

This is a big concern for many people when they are thinking of hiring a Declutterer and the answer is absolutely not! The decisions about what to keep and what to let go are yours to make. However, I will encourage you to think about whether the items are still serving you. I will support you through the process and make suggestions about how to store or display items. The aim is to create more space and calm in your daily life and remove the overwhelm that is created by having too much stuff.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO THE THINGS I NO LONGER NEED?

I will encourage you to sell, recycle or donate items, to avoid contributing to landfill wherever possible. One of the great things about being a declutterer is that I see at first hand the generosity of clients who give their unwanted items to many worthwhile charities. If you have specific charities in mind, that’s great. Otherwise, I can suggest local charities I work with in Norfolk who will be delighted to receive your donations. I am happy to take away a car load to charity/recycling or I can arrange for a charity collection.
